Environmental Chassis Dyno Test Engineer
Duties:
1. This role is crucial in enabling the laboratory operations and supporting the Lead Engineer in the ongoing management of the Environmental Chassis Emissions Dyno with Power Electronics assessment capabilities. You will engage directly with JLR, university academia, and third-party engineering teams.
2. Assist your lead engineer in understanding detailed test requirements. You will be responsible for operating the environmental chassis emissions dyno, including pre-checks, vehicle preparation, emission testing, and reporting. This includes installation and instrumentation of the unit under test.
3. Collaborate with laboratory customers, reporting and explaining test data as required.
4. Participate with your Lead Engineer in operating the Environmental Chassis Emissions Dyno with Power Electronics assessment capability.
5. Utilize the chassis dyno capability within the laboratory for JLR and third-party projects, engaging with key laboratory capabilities.
6. Liaise with customers to derive and develop comprehensive technical test requirements and methodologies.
7. Operate facilities in compliance with H&S and other auditable standards such as ISO 16949 and 14001.
8. Transfer knowledge to new team members and provide equipment familiarization as needed.
9. Maintain the physical operation and upkeep of the facility.
Skills:
* Experience with AVL SCADA, PUMA, CAMEO, ETAS INCA in manual and automated engine test facilities.
* Knowledge of ICE emissions measurement and initial quality evaluation in test bed and chassis dyno applications.
* Experience in laboratory-based technical testing and evaluation of ICE systems.
* Strong engineering discipline understanding and desire for continuous technical development.
* Ability to evaluate and articulate test methodologies and facility capabilities.
* Good understanding of laboratory equipment flexibility and capabilities.
* Strong activity execution, planning, and program management skills.
* Effective communication and influencing skills at operational levels.
* Experience working in an ICE engineering environment, contributing technically.
