An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Medical Secretary to join and support the Diabetes and Endocrinology Service within Community Medicine & Ambulatory Therapies Directorate.

Responsibilities
* Perform all secretarial and administrative duties for outpatient Community Medicine specialties, ensuring timely processing of clinic letters, reports, referrals, appointments, and other patient related information in line with operational policies and procedures.
* Monitor patient pathways and work to offer appointments within target waiting times, adhering to organisational targets for waiting lists and referrals.
* Take and type minutes of meetings and other complex documents such as discharges, clinic letters and reports using appropriate technology.
* Respond to queries from service users, patients and representatives, demonstrating understanding, empathy and discretion.
* Process complex incoming mail and bring relevant information to clinicians as directed.
* Organise the processing of investigation results of key importance or abnormalities in accordance with clinicians' instructions.
* Coordinate and oversee referral of patients to other departments or hospitals for further treatment, investigations or appointments.
* Assist in promoting a healthy, safe and secure working environment for the team.
* Carry out any other ad‑hoc duties as required in line with operational and service needs.
Qualifications
* Relevant secretarial or audio‑typing qualifications.
* Excellent organisational skills, proficiency in medical audio typing, dashboard validation and sound knowledge of medical terminology.
* Good communication and organisational skills with a flexible approach to duties.
* Knowledge and experience in the health sector beneficial.
