Job Description:
Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads – both students and employers – for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 28,000 students in 2019-20. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions. The college had 3,203 graduates in 2019-2020, 40 percent of whom pursued degrees that would let them transfer to 4-year institutions. Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education 36% enrolled at TCC. TCC’s institutional accreditation is affirmed through 2027 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
The Cashier Office Manager provide administrative support in all aspects of the operation of the Business Office to include all revenue due and collected. To ensure college policies are followed, and the office is appropriately staffed during business office hours. Manages business office in the Business Manager's absence. Minimum Qualifications:
1. Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers using both verbal and written communication skills to discuss financial processes or issues.
2. Ability to use computers and various computer software.
3. Experience in decision-making and accurate analysis of data and facilitate the efficient use of time and money. and resources
4. Ability to research, investigate, analyze, reconcile. and evaluate darn to include bank statements, ledgers, and registers.
5. Ability to review and interpret contracts.
6. Ability to supervise, train, plan and review the work of office staff.
7. Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding revenue collection and third-party contracts.
8. Experience in bookkeeping and cashiering functions including handling large sums of money.
9. Ability to handle a variety of diverse duties.
10. Ability to function within well-defined guidelines and procedures, to resolve routine issues, and to make independent and logical decisions and/or recommendations.
11. Ability to proofread effectively.
12. Ability to perform complex administrative and team leadership responsibilities.
13. Experience in business, industry, retail sales, or banking is required
14. Experience in supervising, cashiering, bookkeeping, typing, and use of computers
