About the Role
Following a major project win and a growing pipeline of work, our Civils division is expanding. We are seeking a motivated Civil Engineer with strong design experience to join our team in York.
You will be involved in delivering civil and structural engineering solutions across a range of rail infrastructure projects, contributing throughout the project lifecycle from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and delivery support.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver civil and structural engineering design for rail infrastructure projects
* Undertake technical design work across structures, geotechnics, drainage, or water management
* Produce, review, and check calculations, reports, and design documentation
* Ensure compliance with relevant UK standards, codes, and client requirements
* Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
* Support project delivery across all design stages
* Contribute to technical problem-solving and design optimisation
* Mentor and support junior engineers where appropriate
Essential Requirements
* Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
* Significant experience in civil/structural design within rail infrastructure projects (essential)
* Strong technical background in at least one of: structures, geotechnics, drainage, or water management
* Proficiency in relevant engineering design software
* Strong understanding of UK standards and industry practices
* Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Desirable Requirements
* Chartered Engineer status (ICE, IStructE or equivalent) preferred but not essential
* Experience within a consultancy or multidisciplinary engineering environment
* Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects
