Job summary
The Equipment Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient management and control of all equipment within UKHSA, excluding IT-related items. This encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, from overseeing laboratory and process equipment acquisition to maintaining equipment throughout its entire lifecycle.
The Estates, Engineering and Facilities (EEF) Department is responsible for the engineering function comprising maintenance, validation, and calibration of assets, as well as repairs and capital work. Adopting the guiding principles of engineering excellence, EEF strive to contain and control risks associated with assets, infrastructure, and critical equipment on the estate.�
Key Responsibilities:
1. Adherence to Engineering Policy and Compliance.
2. Uphold UKHSA�s engineering policies and standards.
3. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
4. Technical Coordination and Support: Collaborate with technical and administrative installation, repair, and preventative maintenance activities.Facilitate equipment upgrades as needed.
5. Strategic Decision-Making: Provide valuable input to strategic decisions related to engineering equipment functions with broader UKHSA projects and developments.
6. Policy Implementation and Maintenance: Oversee the development and implementation of equipment-related policies and alignment with UKHSA policies.
7. Continuous Improvement: Analyse current equipment performance levels.Strategically enhance existing equipment through extensive repairs and upgrades.
Qualifications and Skills:
8. Degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
9. Equipment procurement experience
10. Strong communication skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.

Job description
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities, and duties:
11. To exchange specialist information with suppliers to assure equipment is fit for purpose, provides best value and is available to meet business needs
12. To manage the process of securing approvals for the expenditure, liaise with procurement to ensure orders are placed in a timely manner and monitor manufacture and delivery time periods with which to keep CEPRs Users advised of order progress
13. To liaise with Site Engineering to ensure services, environment and delivery needs are provided in a manner that will enable the equipment to operate in accordance with the installation needs and UKHSA engineering processes
14. To evaluate quotations and produce an auditable schedule in evidence of adherence to UKHSA�s Standing Financial Instructions
15. To liaise with the administrative function within the department for the placement of orders through the procurement system and the manage the process through authorisation, receipt, acceptance, and delivery to final location

16. Relevant experience in a similar supervisory/support role
17. Equipment procurement experience
18. Ability to obtain and process quotes and tender documents for equipment maintenance
19. Ability to deal with cross-functional sensitive issues

20. Provide input to revenue and capital budgets formulation
21. Proven ability to lead and motivate teams
22. Knowledge of project management principles, techniques, and Microsoft Project
23. Completion of related in-house and external training courses H&S, Environmental, Facilities Management
24. Must be proficient in the management of internal policies and procedures
