We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced Clinical Specialist Nurse to work with our dedicated MHSOP team at Springwood. This 12 month secondment/fixed term opportunity is ideal for anyone looking to expand their knowledge & competencies, diversify their professional experience portfolio, develop their leadership skills or simply take on a new and exciting challenge.
The successful applicant will become an integral member of our specialised multi-disciplinary team. Springwood is a 14 bedded ward for people living with advanced Dementia & experiencing additional frailties, vulnerabilities & behaviours that challenge. Our patients are transferred to us from assessment & treatment wards in North Yorkshire because they require a longer period of inpatient care & may have failed transfers or placements in community environments. Springwood delivers continued assessment of patients' unique needs, creating highly personalised treatment & moving-on plans, together with their families, friends & paid/unpaid carers. Our engagement is dynamic & focused on understanding the person deeply, promoting their remaining strengths and adapting interactions & environments to improve quality of life. We work together with the person & anyone important to them to create Positive Behaviour Support Plans, which follow them through to transfer into their new homes.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering a high standard of clinical leadership to the team; ensuring clinical standards are maintained in the delivery of care across all aspects of the service. The nature of this work requires a calm, consistent approach to some challenging clinical situations alongside a willingness to be compassionate, creative and flexible in delivering clinical care.
The successful applicant will be required to contribute to and lead ongoing service development and change; offering regular and reliable clinical supervision to staff members and supporting training and development. The ability to make balanced decisions and use positive risk-taking approaches, whilst managing potentially high-pressured situations is an essential part of this role.
Acting as a resource in providing specialist advice, training, guidance and consultation to the team and partner agencies, including Care Homes and Care Providers, is an integral aspect of the role. The applicant will be an essential member of the multi-disciplinary team and will be able to facilitate the co-coordination of care on a multi-disciplinary basis to the patients under our care.
The successful applicant will work closely with a highly-experienced Ward Manager and Practice Development Practitioner and will have a shared responsibility for the planning and delivery of safe staffing, supervision, appraisal and staff support.

Job responsibilities
The Clinical Specialist Nurse will take a lead role in delivery of clinical service to the patients, families and paid/unpaid carers we support. This will include supervision of clinicians and playing an active role in collective clinical decision-making. The post holder will have responsibility for providing clinical leadership to colleagues in assessment, treatment and management of patients with advanced Dementia and complex, multifaceted needs.
The post holder will contribute to the planning, oversight and provision of expert care and support to all patients who are transferred to the ward, providing evidenced based interventions based on need and promoting the soonest possible safe transfer into the community. The post holder will also formulate plans of care, positive behaviour support and transfer plans with the multi-disciplinary team and negotiate implementations of such plans and the sharing of complex, sensitive and confidential information.
The post holder will facilitate and support the development and delivery of innovative dementia training and education to staff, to improve competence and confidence, in line with best practice and guidance. They will work with the PDP and Ward Manager to ensure learning from safety events and audits, developing realistic, timely and impactful improvement action plans.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RMN / RNLD/ RGN
2. Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor or currently in progress of achieving.
3. Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing Clinical Supervision or in the process of achieving
4. Postgraduate diploma in a subject relevant to the area Or be willing to work towards and achieve within 2 years
5. and Within the first year of being in post hold a recognised qualification in a governed therapy/advanced clinical qualification Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (Independent Prescriber)
6. And have Equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience (see below under experience), together with evidence of relevant CPD
