This role is based within Esh-Stantec which is a joint venture between Esh Construction and sustainable design and engineering firm, Stantec. Esh-Stantec works in partnership with Northumbrian Water Group (NWG) as a Living Water Enterprise supply partner and provides an end-to-end solution for water and wastewater capital infrastructure projects. About the role: We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a large and friendly team, to take commercial responsibility for allocated projects or workstreams within the Water Industry, ensuring effective cost control, contract compliance, and value recovery, while supporting delivery teams and mentoring junior surveyors. Location: Bowburn What we will expect from you: The candidate shall be able to support Managing QS in commercial delivery, ensuring compliance with contract and company procedures by: Having a thorough understanding of the Projects to drive Cost Control / Value Engineering Communicating with internal and external stakeholders to maximise the income from the works Carrying out the following duties, including but not limited to: - Project Commercial Management Manage all commercial aspects of allocated projects Maintain cost control, margin, and cash flow performance Produce: CVRs Forecasts - Measurement, Valuation & Change (NEC Focus) Lead: Interim valuations / applications for payment Compensation event / variation management Ensure robust records to support entitlement Maximise value recovery from instructed works - Contract Administration (AMP8 / NEC) Administer contracts in line with NEC requirements Identify and notify: Compensation events Delays / early warnings Support dispute avoidance and resolution - Subcontractor Management Procure subcontractors in line with programme and governance Manage: Applications for payment Variations Final accounts Ensure robust subcontract administration and cost control - Stakeholder Management Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships It is not possible for this document to totally encompass or define all tasks that may be required of the post holder. Qualifications: Degree qualified or equivalent 10 years’ experience and a proven track record in the commercial environment Competent in Civil Engineering construction processes and procedures Attributes & Skills: Significant experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction Contractual compliance and risk identification Strong understanding of contract forms (e.g. NEC, JCT) Experience of managing costs across multiple projects Strong commercial and financial acumen A good understanding of project planning Background in infrastructure or water sector desirable Excellent negotiation and analytical skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Encourage and supports other colleagues, providing direction and support to them, to carry out their work Experience of Microsoft and office IT packages Experience in use of extranet and electronic project management systems Excellent written skills Conducts themselves in a courteous and professional manner Attention to detail Excellent time management skills Valid UK driving licence
