Join our Birmingham finance team as SRA Compliance Senior Assistant, supporting regulatory excellence in a top 50 law firm, part-time. The role A permanent role based in our Birmingham office, part time 0.5 FTE. Reporting to the firm's Solicitor Accounts Rule Assistant Manager, this newly created role is to provide part-time senior assistant support to ensure compliance with the Solicitor Regulation Authority Accounts Rules ("SRA AR") and other associated regulatory requirements, internal policies and procedures. You will work with the SRA Compliance Assistant Manager, Senior SRA Compliance Assistant, Finance Operations Manager, Head of Procurement & Finance Operations and the COFA together with fee earners administrative support. The person Given the nature of the role, it is likely that your background and experience will include: an education to A-level / degree or equivalent with strong results in English and Maths GSSE's or equivalent; good knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint is essential; work experience in a professional firm with experience in a role with law, regulation and professional standard application to a law firm desirable; comfortable working with Practice Management Systems such as 3E or equivalent; comfortable working with case management and database systems such as iManage, MatterSphere, I4G Innovation Solutions or equivalent; confident dealing with senior management and partners in general; Cooperative and collaborative when dealing with other business support teams; excellent interpersonal skills and client orientated approach which encourages cooperation and resolution; requires resilience and composure in dealing with all situations; professional approach with excellent communication skills and discretion; You will be proven at communicating effectively with all types of business job roles and profiles being able to influence and drive change successfully. The activities Assisting with monitoring the firm's compliance with the SRA AR rules and firm's procedures; assisting in relation to detecting SRA AR breaches, investigating and determining if there is a reportable and/or recordable breach; acting as a point of contact for the firm's lawyers and admin support; maintaining and updating the firm's breaches registers and compliance reports; assisting with generating and compiling monthly and ad hoc compliance reports; investigating reports and reviewing data to identify residual balances, dormant matters, client own account SRA AR issues or other compliance concerns; assisting with work associated with reducing dormant matters, residual balances, client own accounts, designated deposit accounts, interest and any other compliance related focuses of the firm; assisting with and managing balances which require donation to charity; completing administrative tasks to ensure balance notes and information is up to date, accurate and clear; assisting with the annual SRA AR audit together with the wider Finance Team; assisting with carrying out our annual SRA AR file reviews to ensure and assess firm's wide compliance with the policies, rules and procedure to include rectifying and following up on noncompliance. Other responsibilities Reporting to and liaising with the firm's SRA Compliance Assistant Manager and Finance Operations Manager, Head of Procurement & Finance Operations and COFA where necessary; assisting the SRA Compliance Assistant Manager, Finance Operations Manager, Head of Procurement & Finance Operations and COFA with preparation of forms reports; liaise with and support SRA compliance in the NSLs keeping up to date with legal and regulatory changes to include but not limited to the SRA AR Accounts rules; conducting ad hoc research in all areas of SRA AR Rules.
