Job Summary
Drive company cars or vans to schedule, carrying bus drivers from the bus garage to the bus route terminus or driver changeover points.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Sign-on for duty in the normal way, i.e., swipe on.
2. Collect duty documents relevant to the shift.
3. Check relevant notices to stay informed of diversions and route alterations.
4. Locate the appropriate vehicle.
5. Ensure the vehicle is checked for defects at the beginning and end of the shift; report any defects as per procedure.
6. Keep a daily record and check oil, fuel, and fluids.
7. Record mileage at the start of every shift and after each trip.
8. Ferry authorized passengers to and from the garage to the terminus or changeover points.
9. Ensure the vehicle is clean internally and externally; carry out cleaning if required.
10. Refuel or charge the vehicle using company resources or payment cards.
11. Adhere to all legal requirements while driving, such as wearing seatbelts, observing parking and speed restrictions.
12. Collect all drivers from relevant trips according to instructions.
13. Ensure only authorized passengers are collected and dropped off.
14. Prohibit consumption of alcohol and food (hot and cold) in the vehicle; ensure passengers are aware.
15. Report to the supervisor immediately if an authorized passenger does not arrive for pickup.
16. Keep the vehicle secure at all times; return keys at the end of the shift as instructed.
17. Do not use the vehicle for social or personal use or take it home without prior permission from the Engineering Director.
18. Perform any other reasonable duties as instructed by a supervisor when ferry driver duties are unavailable, including assisting with ramp checks.
Essential Criteria for Application:
* Must hold a manual driving license (category B).
Hours of Work:
* 38 hours spread over 5 days out of 7.
Pay:
* £13.85 per hour.
