We are recruiting for a Lead Estimator to join our Regional Civil Engineering team.

You'll be working on…. (what your role and responsibility is)
* Develop and manage analytical lump sum cost estimates, target costs, and high-level budgets in line with tender and framework requirements.
* Prepare order-of-magnitude budgets and cost plans to support pricing strategies and design-to-cost objectives.
* Lead and motivate team members to ensure timely delivery of accurate, competitive cost estimates aligned with programme milestones.

* Demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility in delivering accurate and
timely cost estimates, ensuring that each bid aligns with Octavius' financial objectives.
* Establishes and nurtures
positive relationships with customers, internal teams, and suppliers, ensuring clear and
effective communication throughout the bid process.
* Takes initiative in identifying business improvement ideas, actively seeking
feedback, and contributing to the enhancement of Octavius' estimating processes.
* Ensures precision in preparing
estimate data to produce reliable and comprehensive submissions.
* Leads by example, setting high standards for the team and proactively
coaching others to achieve excellence in their roles.
You'll bring… (your wealth of experience & qualifications)
* Proven experience in estimating rates from first principles for large complex
infrastructure projects.
* Familiar with Method of Measurement and preparing Bills of Quantities.
* Sound knowledge of construction techniques, technologies, and methods and their
impact on outputs and costs.
* Complete understanding of civil engineering resources, their costs and outputs and how
these translate to the overall project cost.
* Understanding of the significance of project constraints on the cost of delivery.
* Detailed knowledge of risk management procedures and their impact on cost
estimates.
* Able to prepare detailed cost estimates and complete work take-offs/activity
schedules
* Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively, fostering a culture of
continuous improvement and excellence
* Competent use of estimating software and good IT skills.
