As a member of the FCRM Improvements Portfolio team, you will support the Portfolio Management office and sub‑portfolio’s project and programme work, delivering over £150m of improvements over the next three years. Your role will help better inform the changes we are delivering and enable us to protect communities and businesses from the devastating impacts of flooding.
Responsibilities
* Start up and inform new projects, ensuring live projects are well supported.
* Assist project managers and build relationships with the Portfolio Management Office.
* Improve and embed portfolio management and data practices across FCRM and Incident Management.
* Provide incident support (usually virtual) and be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity during an incident.
Experience and Skills Required
* Formal project / programme management experience is essential.
* Highly numerate with strong data gathering, manipulation and interpretation skills; experience with large datasets and multiple users.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience of Power BI, Tableau or similar is desirable.
* Experience in a project support role within a complex organisation using Agile and waterfall methodologies.
* Administrative and organisational skills, supporting regular meetings, agendas and minutes for portfolio governance cycles.
* Financial data management and project planning skills desirable.
* Demonstrated ability to gain credibility, respect and cooperation across the business through collaborative behaviours.
* Experience in tackling and automating routine issues with a continuous improvement and problem‑solving mindset.
* Ability to work with uncertainty and develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
Note: This role does NOT qualify for Skilled visa sponsorship. Applications for full, shared or part‑time arrangements are welcome. The team is dispersed across the country; based at one of our Environment Agency offices with occasional travel and overnight stay required.
