This internship is part of the Curriculum Enhancement Internship Scheme at LJMU. The project aims to improve the learning experience for first-year Accounting and Finance students by creating interactive Excel activities, case studies, and digital learning resources. Interns will work with academic staff to co-design practical tools that help students connect theory with real business problems. The offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to curriculum development while building skills in teamwork, Excel, creativity, and educational design.
Duties and responsibilities
Purpose:
To support the development of interactive and engaging learning materials that help students connect accounting and finance theory with real-world applications. Interns will work in small teams to design Excel tasks, create mini case studies, develop short tutorial videos, and assist with evaluating the impact of these resources on student learning.
Main duties:
Assist in creating Excel-based exercises for accounting and finance topics (e.g., budgeting, ratios, cash flow).
Help design simple case studies and practical scenarios for first-year students.
Contribute to producing short video guides and visual learning materials.
Gather feedback from peers through surveys or focus groups.
Support testing and refining learning resources based on student feedback.
Work collaboratively with other interns and attend regular project meetings.
Contribute to evaluation and the preparation of materials for dissemination.
Skills and experience
The requires strong numerical skills, confidence in basic mathematics, good understanding of finance concepts, and competent use of Excel (including formulas, data entry, and basic data analysis). The ideal candidate should be motivated to work with financial data, pay attention to detail, and be willing to learn and follow established processes.
