A growing Conventional Power and Renewables underwriting team is looking for an experienced Underwriter or Assistant Underwriter to join a small, high-performing group. This role offers the chance to work across a well-supported, global portfolio with genuine headroom for growth and increased influence in the market.
With a strong energy pedigree at the senior level — including the Active Underwriter — the team is committed to expanding its conventional power book, while continuing to support renewables as part of broader programs.
The Opportunity:
1. Join a small team to support with the management of the existing portfolio
2. Global remit — 65% US vs 35% international.
3. Business mix includes open market, lineslip, and consortium risks
4. Focused on organic growth through increased line sizes and select new opportunities.
5. Portfolio includes a high volume of accounts; 20% of premium touches renewables (wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, battery) but renewables is not written on a standalone basis.
6. Primarily a follower today, but active plans to take more lead share
7. Expect significant broker interaction — relationship-building is a core part of the role.
8. Based in London with a visible Lloyd’s market presence; travel possible where commercially relevant.
9. Supported by a centralized underwriting assistant team, shared engineering resources, and catastrophe modeling capability
We’re Looking For:
10. An individual with a solid background in conventional power insurance or other technical lines of business (Construction, engineering etc)
11. Strong understanding of natural catastrophe and political risk factors affecting risks
12. Commercial mindset with a collaborative approach — able to build deep broker relationships and spot smart growth opportunities.
Why Join?
13. Backed by an energy-focused leadership team with a clear commitment to the class
14. Increased stamp capacity giving room to grow
15. Blend of Syndicate and Company paper with meaningful market presence
16. Opportunity to make a visible impact in a lean, agile team
