About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Global Payroll, the UK Payroll Lead role is responsible for the successful planning, execution and delivery of all UK payroll services. The UK payroll lead will work with a small in‑house team to ensure e2e payroll processes are efficient and accurate. The role holder will undertake monthly processing, resolve payroll issues ranging from simple to complex, raise escalations, support improvement projects and apply best‑practice thinking around the payroll space. The role holder must understand and adhere to UK compliance and legislative requirements, demonstrate analytical thinking and initiative, manipulate data and analyse reports, manage escalations and challenge where required. Additionally, the role will contribute to global payroll metrics and reporting, and may provide flexible support for other regions.


Key Responsibilities

* Full in‑house e2e payroll processing within Workday.
* Engage with stakeholders across the business and geographies to ensure processes and governance are appropriate and fit for purpose.
* Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and statutory payments inclusive of year‑end processing.
* Deliver payroll data standards, KPIs and SLAs to evaluate payroll performance and drive improvements.
* Responsible for delivery of controls and risk management framework for end‑to‑end payroll processes.
* Deliver finance posting files, support finance team with reports and reconciliation.
* Support and manage escalations related to payroll issues.
* Ensure that colleagues are paid according to contractual pay dates, right first time, on time.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of local payroll laws, regulations and reporting requirements.
* Undertake quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness and integrity of payroll data and processes in line with audit requirements.
* Deliver payroll metrics and analytics to provide insights on payroll performance, costs and trends.


About the Candidate

* Experience working in a global organisation; Finance Services preferred.
* Extensive experience managing payroll across multiple countries or in a global payroll function.
* Extensive experience with the Workday Payroll module.
* Subject‑matter expert on complex payroll issues including share‑based compensation, employee mobility, benefits‑related pay and non‑exempt employee pay.
* Strong understanding of upstream and downstream processes such as HR functions and payroll accounting.
* Good communication and people skills; ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
* Proficient in payroll software, HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong advocate for process improvement.
* Resilient, positive attitude.
* Strong organisational skills and acute attention to detail.
