AI Developer – Robotics & Autonomous Systems

A cutting-edge technology company developing advanced autonomous systems is looking for an AI Developer to join its growing team in London.
This role sits at the intersection of machine learning and robotics, focused on building intelligent decision-making and control systems for real-world platforms. You’ll be working closely with engineers and researchers to develop AI that operates reliably in complex, changing environments.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for designing and implementing probabilistic and machine learning models that support navigation, planning and adaptive control. A key part of the position will involve integrating these models into real robotic systems and ensuring they perform effectively outside of simulation.
The team is highly technical and collaborative, so you’ll be involved not just in development, but also in shaping system architecture and contributing to longer-term technical direction.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop probabilistic and machine learning models for decision-making and control
* Build and refine navigation and planning systems
* Integrate AI algorithms into real-time robotic platforms
* Optimise models for embedded and edge hardware
* Analyse real-world system data to improve reliability and performance
* Contribute to broader AI system design and architecture decisions
Requirements
Essential:
* Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning or a related field
* Strong Python and C++ skills
* Experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or JAX
* Background in probabilistic modelling, Bayesian methods or reinforcement learning
Desirable:
* Experience working with robotic systems or autonomous platforms
* Familiarity with SLAM, path planning or multi-agent systems
* Knowledge of ROS/ROS2 or robotics simulation tools
* Understanding of control systems and sensor fusion
* Experience deploying models to embedded or real-time systems
