Overview
Location: RAF Marham, PE33 9NP, United Kingdom. Employment: Permanent, Full Time (39 hours per week). Salary: £34,000-£36,000 per annum plus benefits. Role: Paint Sprayer (Surface Finish Operator) for the MoD and our partners within the BAES managed F35 Maintenance and Finishing Facility. The Surface Finish work includes surface preparation, abrading, paint stripping, masking, cleaning, pre-treatment and applying finishes on MoD assets.
All roles require compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental and Aviation Safety requirements. You will notify Management of anomalies, failures, defects or corrosion that may affect quality and/or aviation safety.
Responsibilities
* Perform surface finish tasks in accordance with quality policy, procedures and standards required.
* Manual abrading, chemical and media paint removal on aircraft, components and MoD assets prior to repainting.
* Apply a high standard of paint finishes to aircraft, components and MoD assets using various paint schemes and modern application equipment.
* Ensure health and safety aspects including COSHH and Risk Assessments are complied with, including control of entry by unauthorised personnel into work areas.
* Ensure that paints and associated materials are stored correctly in accordance with instructions.
* Manage surface finishing tasks and ensure correct trade practices are employed to produce a high-quality product.
* Be prepared to challenge or report unsafe or unapproved behaviours and stop tasks if an unsafe practice or variance from approved process is observed.
What You’ll Need To Do
* Experience as a RAF Painter & Finisher tradesperson or time-served civilian equivalent in the Aircraft Painter trade.
* NVQ Level 3 in Aeronautical Engineering (Surface Finish pathway) or equivalent qualification or certification supporting completion of National Occupational Standards:
o SEMAER233 - Preparing aircraft components for surface finishing/coating
o SEMAER234 - Preparing aircraft component coatings/finishes for application
o SEMAER235 - Applying coatings/finishes to aircraft components by hand
o SEMAER236 - Applying coatings/finishes to aircraft components by spray gun
o SEMAER237 - Carrying out the application of transfers, decals and livery to aircraft components
* Full UK Driving Licence is desirable.
* Ability to follow defined procedures and work instructions.
* Experience working in a Low Observable (LO) discipline on F35 Aircraft is desirable.
