Job overview

Critical Care Outreach Band 7. If you are looking to develop your career in a clinical post with advanced practice and are passionate about making a difference to acutely deteriorating patients and providing positive support to ward level staff, contact us today.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced nurse to join our established team in Critical Care Outreach which expanded to a 24/7 service last year.

We support acutely deteriorating patients in two of our hospital sites in Basingstoke and Winchester. We have implemented Martha’s acute site hospitals and continue to improve this service. In addition to the standard Outreach role, we run Rehabilitation from critical illness service via our Physiotherapy team member.

We provide Trust-wide education programmes to enhance the skills of ward staff and facilitate a level 7 accredited Deteriorating Patient module.

This post is for a senior member of the team who will also line‑manage Band 6 staff and help develop them in the role.

This post comes with the opportunity to apply for further development by undertaking the Advanced Clinical Practitioner MSc with credentialing via the NOf Advanced Competency Structure. Further training is provided for individual needs to achieve and maintain the skills and knowledge to undertake this role effectively.

Working for our organisation

Our vision is to provide outstanding care for every patient. Patient care is at the heart of what we do at our three sites: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and Andover War Memorial Hospital. Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides medical and surgical services to a population of approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire.

We provide specialist services to people across the UK and internationally. We are one of only two centres in the UK treating pseudomyxoma peritonei and we are leaders in the field of tertiary liver cancer and colorectal cancer.

The trust employs more than 9,000 staff and has a turnover of over £500 million a year. As a Foundation Trust, we are directly accountable to our members through the governors.
