We’re working with a long-established, family-owned business in Seaham that operates multiple ventures from one site and is now looking to appoint a Part-Time Bookkeeper.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper who enjoys variety, autonomy, and working closely with business owners in a friendly, down-to-earth environment, taking ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping and ensuring accurate, timely financial records across all entities.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records for multiple businesses
2. Processing purchase and sales invoices
3. Completing bank reconciliations
4. Preparing and submitting VAT returns (with support available if needed)
5. Liaising with on-site teams and external accountants
6. Supporting year-end processes and providing information to accountants
7. Assisting with general administration tasks where required
8. The Payroll is currently outsourced, so payroll experience isn’t essential, but would be a bonus if you’re happy to take this on in the future.
You’ll ideally have:
9. Proven experience in a bookkeeping role
10. Experience managing accounts for multiple businesses
11. Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
12. A confident and approachable communication style
13. VAT experience (desirable but not essential)
14. The ability to liaise effectively with external advisors
15. Sage experience preferred, but experience with Xero, QuickBooks, or similar systems is also welcomed – training will be provided
Working Pattern
16. Part-time: approximately 3 days per week
17. On-site presence required for at least 2 days per week - some flexibility may be available once you’re established in the role
If you’re an experienced bookkeeper looking for a varied, people-focused role with flexibility and strong support, this could be an excellent next step.
