We have an urgent requirement for an experienced Technical Safety Engineer to support a decommissioning project working with an International Oil & Gas Operator in Aberdeen. Initial 3-month contract, with the potential for extension. Limited Company, or Agency Worker PAYE contract ROLE You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary project team, providing pragmatic technical safety input to help frame sound decisions quickly. The role will involve producing safety studies and delivering a material change to the Safety Case, with a strong focus on practical execution and delivery. REQUIREMENTS: Education and/or Qualifications Essential An engineering degree plus a formal technical safety / risk management qualification – e.g. MSc in Safety & Reliability Engineering. Preferred Chartered or working thorough Chartership via an Engineering Council professional body e.g. SaRS/SEE, IChemE, IMechE. NEBOSH PSM qualification. Additional requirements: Experience in Safety Case Management is essential. Experience in HAZID, HAZOP, SIMOPS, SIL Assessment, Bowtie, ALARP demonstration, etc. Understand the various phenomenological models – e.g. Dispersion; Explosion overpressure; Heat radiation, etc. Excellent working knowledge of PSM, QRA, FERA, EERA, Passive and Active Fire Protection, and Human Factors. Familiarity with UK, European and International Codes and Standards. Experience in engineering project safety management is preferred. Significant experience in a similar position within Oil & Gas, Chemical, or other ‘High Reliability/Major Accident Hazard / COMAH Industry. Skills Thorough understanding of relevant statutory provisions, particularly in relation to Major Accident Hazard Management. Auditing skills. Experience of technical authoring. Preferred Experience of management of external contractors and consultancies. Commercial and financial experience.
