This role will play a critical part in delivering a world-class rugby programme that supports players across the Hartpury pathway. The Men’s Senior Academy Pathway Coach (Backs and Attack) is responsible for the coaching, performance and development for players within the Hartpury men’s senior rugby academy. The role will be accountable for the Men’s RFC Champ team, specifically coaching the backs and attack and our U18 ACE Team.
This role will:
1. You will be responsible for the development programmes of backline players in the Hartpury Senior Rugby Academy and directly coach the RFC champ backline and team attack.
2. Lead and deliver coaching for the ACE U18s team, fostering a high-performance culture.
3. You will establishgood communication channels with coaches across the male program and RFC Championship staff, and work with the Head of Mens Performance, Senior Academy Head Coach and other academy coaches to develop the strategy of the Senior Rugby Academy.
4. You will also be responsible for implementing a succession planning programme by playing the lead role in the recruitment & retention of College, BUCS and RFC Champ players (with specific attention to the backline).
5. Plan, implement and monitor weekly skills and performance programmes, using analysis tools to develop individual players, units and overall team performance.
6. Attend all training sessions, RFC/ACE fixtures and academy meetings, ensuring clear communication and feedback to players and staff.
7. Collaborate with the Head of Men’s Performance Rugby and wider academy staff on strategy, player identification, recruitment, and development pathways.
8. Work alongside Strength & Conditioning and academic staff to support player physical preparation and academic progress.
9. Manage administrative duties, compliance with governing body regulations, and contribute to selection, trials, and retention meetings as required.
About You
10. You will hold a RFU Level 3 Coaching award, or equivalent.
11. You will have played a prominent role in a high-performance rugby environment with a proven track record in age grade rugby.
12. You will be able to demonstrate experience of elite athlete coaching, with rugby coaching in an educational environment advantageous.
