Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified, HCPC registered Occupational Therapist within Amputee Rehabilitation to work within the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality assessments and treatments for this client group.
The job role is to provide Occupational Therapy, alongside Band 7 Occupational Therapists. To participate in the inter-disciplinary assessment process, negotiated client-centred goals, rehabilitation interventions and completion of reviews and outcome measures. To be responsible for managing a caseload of amputee patients, both non-limb wearers and prosthetic users, with lower limb and upper limb amputations or limb difference. To communicate and liaise with a wide variety of community services regionally, including relevant referrals, ordering equipment and appropriate home visits.
Responsibilities
* Provide Occupational Therapy as part of the MDT alongside Rehabilitation Consultants, physiotherapy, prosthetists, counselling, psychology and therapy assistants.
* Participate in inter-disciplinary assessment, set negotiated client-centred goals, implement rehabilitation interventions and complete reviews and outcome measures.
* Manage a caseload of amputee patients, including non-limb wearers and prosthetic users, with lower limb and upper limb amputations or limb differences.
* Communicate and liaise with community services regionally, manage referrals, order equipment and conduct appropriate home visits.
* Contribute to service development as part of the MDT.
* Work within the West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre in Birmingham, delivering specialist amputee rehabilitation throughout the West Midlands Region.
* Maintain effective communication with patients/carers, colleagues and other agencies and ensure excellent record keeping.
Qualifications and Skills
* HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
* Experience of assessing disability.
* Good organisational skills including prioritisation of workload and time management.
* Demonstrable knowledge and application of up-to-date clinical and evidence-based practice.
* Strong communication skills with patients, carers, colleagues and other agencies and excellent record keeping.
