Our client is a leading exhibition organizer, recognized for delivering high-profile trade shows and conferences that connect industries, foster innovation, and create valuable business opportunities. With a strong growth trajectory, they are seeking an experienced Commercial Director to lead the commercial strategy and revenue generation across their exhibition portfolio.
The Role
The Commercial Director will be responsible for developing and executing the commercial vision, ensuring revenue targets are met across exhibition sales, sponsorships, and partnerships. This is a senior leadership role that requires extensive experience within the exhibitions and events industry, as well as a proven ability to build strong client relationships and lead high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and deliver the commercial strategy to achieve revenue growth across exhibitions and sponsorship opportunities.
* Lead, motivate, and manage the sales team to deliver exhibition stand sales, sponsorship packages, and advertising opportunities.
* Identify and secure new business opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams.
* Establish and nurture strong relationships with key clients, exhibitors, industry associations, and stakeholders.
* Collaborate with marketing, operations, and content teams to align commercial goals with overall event strategy.
* Provide accurate forecasting, budgeting, and reporting to senior leadership.
* Negotiate high-value commercial contracts and ensure competitive pricing strategies.
* Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions.
Candidate Profile
* 10+ years of senior commercial experience within exhibitions, trade shows, or large-scale events.
* Demonstrated success in delivering and exceeding sales and revenue targets.
* Strong knowledge of exhibition business models and sponsorship sales.
* Proven leadership ability, with experience managing and developing sales teams.
* Exceptional negotiation and relationship management skills.
* Commercially astute, strategic thinker with a hands-on approach.
* Strong communication and presentation skills, comfortable engaging with C-level stakeholders.
