About the Apprenticeship:
This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate looking for a Level 3 Gold Engineer Apprenticeship. Mentored by the Maintenance Chargehand, this 3-year dynamic program is designed to cultivate the skills and expertise necessary for a thriving career in the cutting-edge field of advanced manufacturing. This comprehensive apprenticeship focuses on developing proficiency in skills relevant to the advanced manufacturing industry.
The successful candidate will embark on a transformative learning journey that combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, preparing you for a rewarding and impactful role in the world of advanced manufacturing.
This course supports the skills and knowledge development requirements for technician access into the engineering working environment.
College/Employer Attendance:
In the first year, you are required to attend class two days per week. For the second and third years, your class attendance is required one day per week. The rest of your week will be spent in the workplace.
About the role:
Successful candidates will:
· Participate in studies one/two days per week and earn while you learn.
· Complete Pearson’s BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering
· Complete NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations
· Complete NVQ Level 3 Diploma in an Engineering Pathway
· Learn new technical skills to increase knowledge and ability in equipment maintenance.
· Assist in the completion of preventative maintenance as scheduled on assigned equipment.
· Assist in fault-finding and repair of unscheduled downs.
· Comply with health and safety policy and procedures.
· Coached & mentored by a wide variety of highly skilled, diverse, and experienced people.
· Be part of a high-performing team.
About you:
Applicants must have:
· A minimum of 6 GCSEs at grades A* - C including English and preferably Grade B in Mathematics or equivalent.
· A strong desire to learn and develop.
· A strong work ethic
· Experience or interest in Engineering/Maintenance with desire to work in the Engineering industry.
Entry on the course is also subject to a successful interview and aptitude test with South West College.
About The Role
Successful candidates will be employed by Mulrines to gain valuable experience in our thriving manufacturing business whist completing their Level 3 Gold Engineering course with no fees or costs associated with higher education. Throughout the three years, the successful candidate will develop invaluable skills, supported by close mentorship and academic guidance from South West College.

About Mulrines
P Mulrine & Sons was established in 1919. Originally located just off Main Street Ballybofey with a workforce of 4 people, the company specialised in the production and distribution of soft drinks and bottled beer.
In 1971 P Mulrines & Sons Sales was established, and a new plant was opened on the Donegal Road which offered greater opportunities to the local people for employment with numbers increasing to around 80 people at the site
With the period of growth that followed our first Tetra Pak fillers were introduced in 1982.
An independent fourth generation family business the Company has grown steadily over the years. As a family business we are very proud of our local heritage and of the loyal workforce we have generated here in Ballybofey and the surrounding area, currently employing over 250 people across all sites.
