We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Podiatrist to join our inclusive and supportive Brent and Harrow Specialist Care Team.

We are seeking a full‑time post holder to join the team, following the promotion of a valued colleague. We welcome applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds who are passionate about delivering high quality community based care.

This is an exciting time to join the service. We are continuing to strengthen our existing models of care while introducing innovative ways of working. Over the next 12 months, our focus includes deeper integration with primary care, enhancing both planned and unplanned care pathways, and driving a population health approach, all supported by a forward‑thinking and supportive senior leadership team.

As part of our dynamic team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to service development and play a key role in improving patient outcomes and experiences across the community.

In this role, you will deliver high quality, person‑centred podiatry care, working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team. You will also support the day‑to‑day running of the service, contributing to clinical standards, service improvement, and the development of junior staff.


Main duties of the job

* Provide specialised podiatry treatments using advanced skills and knowledge.
* Autonomously assess, diagnose, and manage patients, including those with high‑risk factors.
* Develop and implement tailored treatment and care plans, adopting a problem‑solving approach and engaging patients and carers in their care.
* Deliver general and specialist foot health advice, including carrying out regular nail surgery sessions on a rotational basis.
* Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care.
* Delegate appropriate care tasks to podiatry assistants when necessary.
* Maintain accurate patient records, including assessments and treatment plans.
* Ensure clinical rooms and equipment meet infection control standards and Podiatry service guidelines.
* Contribute to the development of clinical standards, protocols, and service improvement initiatives.
* Maintain focus and precision while performing complex, physically demanding procedures in a busy clinical environment.

Person Specification


Education/Qualification

* Diploma/Degree in Podiatric medicine (or the equivalent)
* Registration with HCPC
* Certificate in Local Anaesthesia
* Knowledge of recent developments in NHS
* Knowledge of Evidence based practice
* Evidence of personal development
* Knowledge of NMC code of professional conduct
* Willingness to undertake further training and qualifications to enhance clinical skill base
* Relevant courses in Long Term Conditions Management
* Course of Top to Toe examination/diagnosis Experience
* Willing to undertake Clinical Practice teaching course within 2 years in post.


Experience

* Comprehensive experience at band 5 Specialist Podiatrist level
* Knowledge of the lower limb complications associated with Diabetes and other high‑risk conditions
* Experience of mentoring others/junior staff
* Knowledge of influencing and negotiation skills
* Evidence of expertise in clinical skills
* Evidence of participating in clinical audits and quality in the workplace knowledge of, and ability to interpret and apply all relevant ECS and professional policies, procedures, and guidelines.
* Evidence of working with multi‑disciplinary teams across NHS settings
* Proven clinical skills at Senior Community Podiatry level. Having current competencies in all clinical skills relevant to podiatry and holistic assessment of patients and carers needs
* Understanding of current political and policy context in Primary Health Care
* Good understanding of the government agenda for community podiatry.
* Good understanding of NHS 10 Year plan


Skills & Knowledge

* Specialist experience in full breadth of podiatric treatment modalities
* Experience of holding a domiciliary caseload
* Experience of treating high‑risk diabetic patients
* Experience of nail surgery
* Highly developed level of skill and manual dexterity
* IT skills – MS Office package, Email, SystmOne, Mobile, ability to search internet and intranet
* Produce data for reports as required
* Experience of Biomechanics gait analysis and orthotics
* Ability to plan and deliver key objectives within strict timetables
* Demonstrates ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team working, interpersonal skills and written and verbal skills, importance of a positive "can do" attitude and a positive attitude to change
* Ability to constructively challenge the 'norm' to bring about positive changes to improve the patient's experience


Other

* Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)
* Awareness of equal opportunities/equal access
* Understanding of national infection control guidance
