Offer description

An established engineering company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. The role involves taking ownership of defining, refining, and continuously optimising testing and validation methods to ensure that all products consistently meet stringent mechanical, environmental, optical, and electronic performance requirements, while also driving improvements that enhance reliability, compliance, and overall product quality throughout the development lifecycle.


Essential Requirements

* Experience in testing environments with opto‑mechanical components.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical, electronic, and optical engineering principles.
* Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings, standards, and technical documentation.
* Competent in data acquisition, analysis, and standard business software (MS Office).
* Able to maintain accuracy, work independently or within teams, and follow QMS‑driven test processes.


Responsibilities

* Develop and execute test instructions and procedures.
* Apply strong analytical reasoning, problem‑solving, and critical thinking skills.
* Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
* Commit to continued learning in optics, testing, and compliance standards.
* Use optical/mechanical components and 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks).
* Familiarity with automation tools such as LabView.
* Maintain strong attention to detail; self‑motivated and independent.
* Understand quality control principles; hold relevant IT certifications (e.g., ECDL).

The start date is ASAP. The initial contract length is 6 months. The role is based in North Wales and requires 4‑5 days onsite per week. Rate is flexible depending on experience, £30 to £50 per hour.
