The Role
We’re looking for a Project Engineer to plan, lead and deliver client projects across Microsoft 365, Azure, networking and security. You’ll own the implementation/delivery lifecycle, working alongside our Solutions team on implementation, migration, cutover and handover — while managing project communication, stakeholders and timelines. This is a hands‑on role in an MSP environment where you’ll juggle multiple projects, visit client sites when needed, and ensure every delivery lands on time, to scope, and with quality.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Plan and deliver Microsoft 365 migrations (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams) including discovery, readiness, cutover and post‑migration troubleshooting liaison with clients).
* Deliver Azure projects (tenant setup, identity and RBAC, virtual networks, site‑to‑site/point‑to‑site VPN, Azure AD/Entra Connect, server/cloud migrations).
* Lead firewall and network deployments, with a focus on SonicWall (policy, NAT, VPN, SSL VPN, SD‑WAN), VLANs, switching, Wi‑Fi and routing.
* Run Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus readiness assessments, remediation plans and evidence collection through to certification.
* Create project documentation to ensure the Service Desk has a smooth handover of newly implemented solutions.
* Own project communication: status updates, stakeholder management, change control and expectation setting – no surprises for clients or colleagues.
* Work closely with Presales/Solutions to scope work, estimate effort and define deliverables; provide delivery feedback to improve future projects and processes.
* Automate and standardise where possible (PowerShell, Intune/Autopilot policies, scripts, templates) to drive repeatable, high‑quality outcomes.
* Support safe go‑lives and cutovers, including occasional out‑of‑hours work when required.
What We’re Looking For
* 5+ years’ experience in a technical role within an MSP, including hands‑on delivery of customer projects.
* Proven track record delivering multiple projects concurrently, managing time, priorities and dependencies effectively.
* Confident communicator who can translate technical details into clear stakeholder updates and set accurate expectations.
* Takes ownership, works autonomously and follows through to successful outcomes.
* Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to client sites.
* Right to work in the UK.
Your Tech Skills (the more of these, the better)
* Microsoft 365 tenant administration and migrations: Exchange Online, SharePoint/OneDrive, Teams, Entra ID, Conditional Access, identity/hybrid join.
* Endpoint management and security: Intune, Autopilot, Defender for Endpoint/Identity/Office 365, baseline and compliance policies, Purview DLP/labeling (nice to have).
* Azure administration: subscriptions, RBAC, resource groups, VNets, NSGs, VPN/ExpressRoute concepts,
* Azure Files/AVD/VM migrations, monitoring and cost awareness.
* Networking and firewalls: routing, switching, VLANs, DHCP/DNS, VPNs; strong hands‑on with SonicWall and/or Cisco Meraki is highly desirable.
* Security Services - EDR/ITDR/SIEM: experience with Huntress is beneficial.
* Scripting/automation with PowerShell; familiarity with RMM‑controlled scripts (Connectwise/Datto).
* Documenting designs and as‑built configurations; clear handovers to Service Desk and Knowledge Base contributions.
* Microsoft Azure certifications: AZ‑900 and AZ‑104 (or higher) highly desirable.
* SonicWall certifications (e.g. CSSA) advantageous.
* Cyber Essentials practitioner/assessor experience beneficial.
