An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Medical Secretary to work as part of the administration team based at Wycombe Hospital.
The postholder will provide a comprehensive medical secretarial and administration service to the department in strict accordance with GDPR and Trust confidentiality guidelines, ensuring all work is processed in a timely, efficient way, includingtimelyaudio typing of clinic letters and documents, organising group clinic sessions and general administration required by the Diabetes Specialist Nursing Team. This may involve correction of incorrect grammar and interpretation of different pronunciations and handwritten clinical notes of advanced medical terminology.
Main duties of the job
To provide a support administration service within the department.
To undertake accurate audio/copy typing (including digital) of medical correspondence and general administration for a team of Diabetes Specialist Nurses. This could include highly sensitive and complex medical terminology with a need for confidentiality
Use Care Records Service for checking patients in and out, making appointments, tracking medical notes etc.
To receive and open mail, to action routine/non-routine and urgent correspondence, drawing the necessary items to the attention of the person(s) concerned
To assist with the daily management of clinic lists and booking of priority patients into clinics
To act as part of a departmental team, thus providing secretarial and administrative services as necessary for colleagues in their absence
To assist in maintaining excel databases for audit purposes as required on a national basis and within the Trust
Any other tasks as may be agreed between the post holder and the nursing team in the future

Qualifications
Essential criteria
11. GCSE Grade C or above/equivalent in English Language
12. RSA II Typing, or equivalent
13. Medical Secretarial Course/ Medical Terminology Course, or ability to demonstrate equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
14. Experience of working within the NHS in a similar setting
15. Experience of working within busy office environment
16. Experience of word processing
17. Experience of audio-typing
18. Ability to work with highly confidential data, and to maintain patient confidentiality
19. Good working knowledge of MS Office

20. Willing to travel between the three hospital sites within the Trust
