Role Overview
The Community Midwifery team based at Helme Chase Maternity unit, Kendal is recruiting enthusiastic and dynamic band 6 midwives. Band 5 midwives nearing the end of their preceptorship period will also be considered.
Responsibilities
* Provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care at Helme Chase birth centre, including supportive care to maintain a high standard of women‑centred maternity services.
* Offer overnight availability and on‑call support to facilitate the home birth service.
* Work as an autonomous practitioner within a multi‑disciplinary team and maintain strong collaborative relationships with all team members, ensuring women receive optimal care.
* Deliver effective leadership and plan, direct and optimise teaching opportunities for staff of all grades.
* Provide education and guidance to women and their families and offer necessary care, advice and supervision throughout the pregnancy continuum.
* Support the learning and development of student midwives and medical students, facilitating their training alongside clinical practice.
* Ensure appropriate referrals for mothers or children to other agencies and the Specialist Midwifery team as required.
Qualifications
* Registered with the NMC and hold a valid NMC Pin.
* Band 6 midwife (band 5 eligible if approaching the end of preceptorship).
* Demonstrated experience in community midwifery or a desire to transition to this role.
