About the Opportunity
A leading international contractor is seeking an experienced NEC Contracts Manager to support the tender and delivery phases of a major UK nuclear infrastructure project. This is a senior role for a highly skilled professional with strong engineering knowledge, legal awareness, and commercial expertise. The role involves managing complex NEC3/NEC4 contracts, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Contract Management: Oversee and manage NEC3/NEC4 contracts, ensuring contractual obligations are met and risks are identified and mitigated.
* Legal Support: Work alongside legal counsel to address NEC contract matters.
* Compliance: Ensure all contractual and regulatory requirements are adhered to.
* Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage contractual risks; provide proactive solutions to mitigate potential issues.
* Documentation: Prepare, review, negotiate, and manage contract documents, amendments, and variations.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and legal advisors.
* Dispute Resolution: Address and resolve contractual disputes effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
* Reporting: Maintain accurate records and provide regular updates on contract status and key issues to the project management team.
Candidate Profile
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification in contract management or legal studies is preferred.
* Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in contract management and legal advisory roles, specifically with NEC3/NEC4 contracts. Prior involvement in Option C and Option E contracts is essential.
* Technical Knowledge: Ability to understand the fundamental principles, scope, and technical requirements of the works.
* Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of commercial consequences of contract terms, capable of drafting protective clauses and managing risk to safeguard the contractor’s interests.
* Mindset: Pragmatic and flexible; able to prioritise essential negotiation points and identify areas where compromise is acceptable.
* Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills; analytical, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or in a team. Proficiency with contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite is required.
Additional Requirements
* Native or fluent English speaker.
* Experience in nuclear or highly regulated infrastructure projects is highly advantageous.
* Senior-level professional with proven ability to lead and advise on complex NEC contracts in large-scale engineering projects.
