Job Summary
We are looking for two committed and innovative medical colleagues to join NHS Highland at Fort William as part of developing a new hospital building. The role involves working within the 21‑bedded Combined Assessment Unit, a high dependency unit and a 15‑bedded acute mixed/rehabilitation ward.
Responsibilities
* Handle general medical duties and provide extensive patient care within the acute and rehabilitation settings.
* Work flexibly as part of an integrated team, demonstrating strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
* Develop specialist interests, particularly in geriatric medicine, within a network of Highland and Scottish specialists.
* Engage in research opportunities with the University of the Highlands & Islands and Aberdeen University.
* Support specialist nurses, undergraduate students and junior doctors through teaching and mentorship.
* Contribute to the day‑to‑day running of the hospital.
Qualifications
* Board‑certified General Medical Doctor (GMC Specialist Register) with a Licence to Practice.
* Within six months of obtaining CCT in General Medicine at interview, or currently on the specialist register.
* Applicants not on the specialist register will be considered for a fixed‑term contract.
Hours & Contract
This post is offered at 10 PAs (40 hours per week). Applicants who wish to work part‑time and flexibly are encouraged to apply. Contract terms can be adapted to suit the individual candidate.
