About the Role:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you are expected to participate in technical discussions to design solutions that meet Product Requirements, develop test-driven code, pair with team members, mentor juniors, and support the existing API Platforms.
Within this team/role, you will manage a legacy and new Enterprise API Platform for Elsevier. The platform aims to provide a good developer experience for users both within and outside of Elsevier, ensuring smooth onboarding of APIs, ease of use of the dev portal, and rapid resolution of support requests.
Requirements:
* Expertise in development languages including but not limited to Java, JavaScript, Groovy, JSP, HTML, XML, SQL, and Bash.
* Knowledge and experience with build tools such as Maven and Gradle.
* Experience with relational DBMS, specifically PostgresDB.
* Knowledge of AWS services via Terraform, including Secrets Manager, Kinesis Firehose, S3, OpenSearch, etc.
* Experience with monitoring tools like New Relic and Kibana for observing metrics and configuring alerts.
* Proficiency with Docker, containers, Helm, Kustomize for managing Kubernetes applications.
* Experience using kubectl, K9s, and similar tools for observing and managing Kubernetes resources.
* Bonus: Knowledge of networks, AWS ACM certificates, VPCs, transit gateways, etc.
Responsibilities:
* Interface with technical personnel or team members to ideate on solutions meeting Product Requirements.
* Document and review detailed specifications for complex system components.
* Complete complex bug fixes.
* Collaborate with team members to understand requirements and translate them into software designs.
* Implement development processes, coding best practices, and conduct code reviews.
* Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while engaging stakeholders.
* Train entry-level engineers, ensuring they understand critical aspects of their roles.
