Specialist Children's Occupational Therapist
To provide an occupational therapy service in Stockport using the balanced system framework. The successful candidate will be expected to meet the functional needs of children across their home learning environment, their community and in educational settings at universal, targeted and specialist level and across the 5 strands of the balanced system framework.
To work as a member of a team, providing assessment, diagnosis and treatment for children with varied and complex functional difficulties.
To liaise with health, education and social services, working in partnership with primary carers and external agencies to ensure the delivery of a high quality service.
To work in a variety of settings / be placed based i.e. seeing children either in their own homes, community settings or nurseries, mainstream schools, resource units and special schools and clinics with a range of complex special needs as required for the continuum of provision under the balanced system framework
Main duties of the job
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To work as part of the children's therapy services team providing support to ensure a continuum of offer is available in the local area using the balanced system matrix
To create / develop 'mini balanced system' offer in own area of work
To perform advanced therapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex difficulties, to develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
To be responsible for your own caseload and a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and case conferences. Access to advice and support from a highly specialist occupational therapist is available, if required, clinical work is not routinely evaluated.
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
Supervise, educate and assess the performance of Students (this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification).
Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and team's clinical practice. Make recommendations to clinical team leader for changes to practice. May lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service guidelines.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Registration with the Health Care Professions Council
* Membership of RCOT
* Evidence of continuous and current clinical, professional, leadership and academic development relevant to clinical fields.
* Clinical Educators/Field worker course or equivalent
* Upper limb intervention training e.g Constraint Induced Movement therapy, Bimanual Therapy
Knowledge
* Knowledge of a range of relevant conditions and their management related to this clinical area
* An understanding of Clinical governance and evidence based practice.
