We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Support Worker to join the team at HMP Garth, a Category B male prison in Leyland.
The prison houses around 1500 men with a variety of health needs and within this role, you’ll play an integral part in providing exceptional care for our patients.
This role sits within our Primary Care team, where you will support with clinics, work with pharmacy and respond to emergency situations - no 2 days are ever the same!

Hours & Salary
This position is full time working 37.5 hours per week. Shifts are on a rolling 2 week rota, usually:
Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday
Week 2 - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Shifts are 07:30 - 19:45

You will receive an annual salary of between £24,669 and £28,690 FTE per annum depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As our new Healthcare Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages, phlebotomy and assessment, treatment and the evaluation of patients care
This role will support the Primary Care Nursing team with all aspects of care
Support clinics - bloods, vaccinations, wound care etc
Act as a second checker in pharmacy as required
You will primarily be working within the primary care team, although may be required to carry out duties in the substance misuse or mental health teams
You will support the registered nurse in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received whilst promoting safe patient care and be willing to develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service deliveryIf you are interested in career development, we have a wide range of opportunities for you to develop your skills and experience, which include both internal and external options for development and learning.

Our new Healthcare Support Worker will:
Hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or at minimum working towards this
Hold an NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care
Have experience within phlebotomy - this is highly desirable!
Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
Have clinical experience - venepuncture, tissue viability etc
