Join our dynamic team at Hammersmith Hospital as an Imaging Assistant, where you will play a vital role in the heart of our diagnostic services. This position is perfect for a proactive individual who balances clinical support with administrative excellence to ensure our patients receive the highest standard of care.

You will be responsible for a variety of clerical and administrative tasks that keep our diagnostic imaging services running smoothly. Beyond operational support, you will provide essential direct patient care before, during, and after examinations. As a member of the support team, you will also act as a mentor, providing educational guidance to junior colleagues.

Main duties of the job

1. Identify patients correctly using departmental Protocols and Procedures
2. Receive patients into the department and prepare them for their examination
3. To have a clear understanding of all procedures carried out within the Unit and the preparation required prior to the examination
4. Prepare sterile trolleys and assist during interventional procedures
5. Train imaging staff members as required
6. Provide support and information to patients, carers and relatives where appropriate
7. Escort patients to the toilet as required
8. Support the radiographic and radiological staff when undertaking procedures and chaperone during intimate examinations as appropriate
9. Use equipment and accessories appropriately
10. Ensure all patient appointments are kept to time to aid in the smooth running of the unit
11. Care for bed bound patients awaiting their examination within the Imaging department

Education

Essential criteria

12. GCSE or Equivalent in English

Desirable criteria

13. Experience in patient care
14. NVQ level 2 in healthcare related subject

Experience

Essential criteria

15. Experience of working within an Imaging department or within a multidisciplinary team in a clinical capacity

Desirable criteria

16. Previous experience in a team leader role
