Hours and Salary
2 week rolling rota working 7 hour shifts, 6pm - 1am (24.5 hours on average per week). Short week - Wednesday, Thursday (14 hours). Long week - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday (35 hours).
Pro rata salary: £17,199 per year (£24,570 FTE). The salary includes an unsocial hours allowance for hours worked 12 midnight to 1am.
Base: Braintree/Chelmsford.
Role Overview
We want someone who is experienced, empathetic and resilient to support people experiencing a mental health crisis. The Mental Health Support Worker is a rewarding but at times challenging role that requires active listening, de‑escalation and distraction techniques. You will also signpost clients where possible and complete internal referrals for practical support when needed.
Responsibilities
* Work with clients to provide emotional support during crisis situations.
* Use active listening, de‑escalation, and distraction techniques to help clients manage their distress.
* Signpost clients to appropriate services and complete internal referrals for practical support.
* Collaborate with NHS 111 service, mental health teams, and liaison services to facilitate appropriate care pathways.
* Support individuals with long‑term, complex mental health problems who are in crisis, including those excluded from other services.
