Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
* You will be based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, G51 4TF
* Monday to Friday, 25.2 hours per week – Core hours 08:00‑16:00 / 08:30‑16:30 / 09:00‑17:00
* Part‑time, permanent
* Please note the salary is pro‑rata for part‑time hours
Key responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to consultants and clinical teams, including correspondence, reports, and diary management.
* Act as a first point of contact for patients, staff, and external agencies, handling enquiries with professionalism, tact, and efficiency.
* Coordinate patient pathways, including arranging appointments, admissions, and follow‑up care to meet waiting‑time targets.
* Manage and prioritise incoming correspondence and referrals, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
* Maintain accurate patient records and use clinical systems to support effective service delivery.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support clinic planning, rosters, and service operations.
* Contribute to service improvement, provide cross‑cover support, and uphold NHSGGC values in all aspects of the role.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
* HNC or SVQ Level III in Secretarial Studies, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using electronic patient record systems.
* Advanced keyboard and audio typing skills with a high level of accuracy.
* Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of healthcare administration processes.
* Excellent organisational and time‑management skills with the ability to prioritise a demanding workload.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive situations effectively.
* Ability to work independently using initiative as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
