Our Development team specializes in providing sustainable development infrastructure solutions from planning to full implementation. We advise private and public sector clients on planning and design issues related to Highways, Public Realm, Sewerage, SUDS, Building Drainage, Earthworks, Flood Protection, and Utilities Coordination/Diversion on various developments across the UK.
The team works closely with other WSP disciplines on high-profile, multi-disciplinary projects.
All staff are encouraged and supported to progress their training towards Engineering Technician (EngTech), Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with organizations like ICE, IHT, CIWEM, or equivalent. Staff benefit from internal and external training opportunities.

A little more about your role
The management of utilities risk is crucial for our clients. Issues such as capacity shortages, encroachment on aging assets, and commercial opportunities require specialized skills. We are recruiting for a Principal Utilities Infrastructure Engineer based in Leeds.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Working out of the WSP Leeds office, located centrally with easy access to transport, food outlets, and green spaces
* Maintaining and developing client relationships within multidisciplinary teams
* Delivering complex schemes on time and within budget
* Providing high-quality work and information to clients
* Serving as a senior point of contact for clients on key projects
* Mentoring team members
* Contributing to the company's turnover and profitability
* Ensuring quality service and maintaining a professional reputation
* Being commercially aware and effective at problem-solving
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
* Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartered Engineer status
* Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent
* Experience with utility connections, diversions, and infrastructure strategies in the UK
* Understanding of Electricity, Gas, Water, and Telecommunications networks
* Experience with Multi-utility / iDNO / ICP offerings is beneficial
* Ability to develop utility demand calculations
* Experience with large multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively
* Knowledge of BIM standards and protocols
* Excellent communication skills for engaging with professionals and preparing reports
* AutoCAD / Civils 3D or similar software skills
* Ability to develop strong client relationships
* Technical and commercial industry understanding
* Effective communication of technical details and networking skills
* Ability to obtain UK Security Check (SC)
