The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust is looking to recruit two Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeons on a 2‑year NHS locum contract. A successful contract may become permanent pending Royal College of Surgeons approval.
Successful applicants will join an existing group of five consultant vascular surgeons, expanding the team to seven. The team is supported by registrars, resident doctors, and two Band 7 vascular nurse specialists, delivering high‑quality vascular services across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Scope & Responsibilities
* Provide emergency vascular surgery as part of a 1:7 consultant rota, including “Consultant of the Week” on a 24/7 basis.
* Work within a 24/7 Interventional Radiology rota.
* Deliver a full range of inpatient elective and non‑elective operations, day‑case sessions, and outpatient clinics across community hospitals.
* Lead major arterial vascular work at the Treliske site with access to a hybrid suite.
* Participate in a multidisciplinary diabetic foot service, complex EVAR programme, and renal access programme.
* Engage in regular educational and audit meetings.
