Health Care Support Worker - Dermatology Outpatients

The Dermatology Unit provides a variety of services including management of acute dermatological cases and emergencies. It assists in the running of clinics for adult and paediatric dermatology, including biologics, skin surgery, skin cancer, immunology, vulval clinics and patch testing. The unit is a busy treatment area offering inpatient and outpatient advice, phototherapy, topical therapies, and wound care management.

We look for an experienced Health Care Support Worker who is enthusiastic, conscientious and caring, eager to join a busy Dermatology outpatient department.
This post is 37.5 hours per week, permanent contract over 5 days (variable shifts Monday‑Friday) with shift times ranging between 7:30 and 18:00.
Key responsibilities include
* Assist with patient care and other department duties, working closely with Outpatient Nurses, Doctors, and Administration staff.
* Perform routine and additional or extended role duties when trained and assessed as competent under the guidance of registered nurses.
* Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with nursing colleagues and other members of the multidisciplinary team, and work in accordance with Trust values and hospital policies.
Qualifications and training
* Completed Care Certificate or support to complete it within 3 months of joining.
* Literacy and numeracy level 2 or equivalent (GCSE D‑G).
* Basic IT skills.
* Knowledge and skills achieved through alternative study and/or employment experience.
* Level 2 and/or 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or Clinical Care, or working towards an award.
* Completion of a Secure English Language Test (SELT) if English is not your first language.
Experience
* Experience in a public-facing or customer-care role or environment.
* Ability to work in a team environment.
* Ability to use initiative within the role boundaries.
* Good communication, observational and organisational skills.
* Experience working in a health or health‑and‑social care role.
* Understanding of NHS and social care systems.
* Experience in an outpatient setting.
* Dermatology experience.
