As a Maintenance Assistant, your responsibilities will include ensuring that the facility's services are fit for purpose, performing gardening tasks, and conducting regular audits to identify and repair faults, thereby maintaining a safe environment for service users, staff, and visitors.
You will work alongside an established team, handling various maintenance-related tasks, liaising with contractors, and supporting the upkeep of the service.

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be:
* Assisting with maintaining the service, buildings, facilities, and equipment to ensure they are fit for purpose.
* Using good DIY skills to ensure the safety of service users.
* Performing regular checks and maintenance.
* Assisting in the repair and maintenance of all buildings.
* Liaising with managers to report faults and defects.
* Participating in a one-week on-call rota for emergency maintenance.
* Supporting contractors on-site and completing all required paperwork and tool checks.
To be successful in this role, you will:
* Follow systems and procedures.
* Have previous experience in a maintenance role.
* Work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
* Show courtesy and respect to residents at all times.
* Attend and participate in training sessions and staff meetings.
Where you will be working:
You will be based at Gateway Recovery Centre, a state-of-the-art facility providing care for men and women with complex mental health needs.
The hospital is divided into four distinct areas:
* Male Autism Service for adults with Autism and Asperger’s syndrome.
* Assessment and rehabilitation for women with complex mental health needs and personality difficulties.
* Specialist inpatient service for older men with complex mental and physical health needs.
* Low secure care setting for men with mental illness, with or without personality disorder or mild learning disabilities.
Your work will contribute to improving the mental health and wellbeing of service users and helping them develop healthy relationships, aiming to reduce risk behaviors and enable them to live fulfilling lives within the community.
