Overview
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Community Support Worker to join the Mid Essex First Episode Psychosis Team, based at The Gables in Braintree. The role is part of a multidisciplinary Early Intervention in Psychosis Team offering a wide range of biopsychosocial interventions. The post holder will work across the Mid Essex locality and will support people aged 14-65 who are experiencing, or are at risk of experiencing, a First Episode Psychosis. This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills in working with this client group in the community.
Please note this vacancy requires a face-to-face interview with the Recruiting Manager. Applicants unable to attend a face-to-face interview need not apply. Regrettably, sponsorship is not available for all roles, and applications for roles we cannot sponsor may be rejected.
Responsibilities
* Support qualified practitioners to help people experiencing a first episode of psychosis, or work independently on service users' goals toward recovery. This requires extensive independent travel across Mid Essex.
* Assist with access to the community and with practical aspects of life to promote independence and recovery; carry out physical health checks in the community (including taking bloods and performing ECGs) and routine observations.
* Support the development and implementation of care plans with qualified clinicians and co-work with complex clients.
* Support running physical health check clinics and promote healthy lifestyle clinics.
* Develop and facilitate community-based groups aligned with physical health and mental wellbeing.
* Encourage and support service users to engage with their local community.
* Assist Senior Clinicians in risk assessment and management of complex cases; identify safeguarding concerns and escalate as needed.
* Support the promotion of carer and service user involvement within the service and participate in related training; complete carers assessments and facilitate carers groups.
* Attend team meetings (e.g., referral/zoning/MDT/business meetings) as appropriate; support service users to identify strengths, interests and achievements and work toward meaningful recovery goals.
Induction and Training
The Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS) brings together health, care, community and voluntary sector organisations. The successful candidate will attend a 5-day face-to-face Induction Programme at the MSE ICS Education Hub at Brentwood Community Hospital, with a start date to be discussed during recruitment. This will be followed by a further 5-day EPUT corporate/mandatory training (delivery mode may vary).
