SEN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist SEN provision in Carlisle to recruit a SEN Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible. This is a term-time only position supporting students with additional needs in a structured and supportive learning environment.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help students access learning and develop socially and emotionally. The role involves providing both classroom support and targeted 1:1 or small group support, ensuring pupils are able to engage positively with their education.
Responsibilities will include:
Supporting students with a range of special educational needs including autism, communication needs, and social, emotional and mental health needs
Assisting the teacher in delivering adapted lessons and learning activities
Helping to manage behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment
Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and social development
Working collaboratively with staff to meet individual learning and support plans
The School
The school is a specialist independent provision supporting pupils with additional needs who require a more personalised and nurturing educational setting. Staff focus on building strong relationships with pupils and providing tailored support to help them succeed both academically and personally.
The Ideal Candidate
To be considered for this role, you must:
Have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN
Be confident supporting pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs
Have a patient, resilient and proactive approach
Be able to build positive relationships with students and staff
Be committed to supporting pupils’ wellbeing and development
Experience working in SEN schools, alternative provisions, care settings, youth work, or support roles will be highly beneficial.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
