Senior Process Engineer – Wastewater

£65,000 – £70,000 per annum (depending on experience) plus generous benefits package inc. bonus

A leading UK utilities organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join its Wastewater Process Engineering Team in Brighton. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in designing and optimising wastewater treatment solutions that make a tangible impact on the environment and local communities.
About the Role
Working as part of a dynamic, multi-skilled team, you’ll provide technical expertise across a range of wastewater treatment projects — from process design and optimisation to operational support on live sites.
You’ll be involved in:
Developing process calculations, control philosophies, P&IDs, performance specifications, and commissioning plans.
Leading innovative process design solutions that deliver measurable TOTEX efficiencies.
Supporting site operations by improving plant performance, implementing optimisation measures, and troubleshooting treatment processes.
Mentoring and supporting junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
This position offers the opportunity to work on complex and high-impact projects while contributing to sustainable water management for the future.
About You - We’re looking for a driven and technically strong Engineer with:
A degree in Chemical Engineering (MEng/BEng/BSc) or an equivalent discipline.
6+ years’ experience in the water industry or consultancy environment.
Proven experience in wastewater process design, optimisation, and commissioning support for UK Water Companies.
Chartered status or working towards chartership (desirable).
Strong analytical skills and a collaborative, problem-solving approach.
