The primary responsibility of the Distribution Planner is to provide customers with the highest standards of customer service ensuring that we effectively plan and meet customer promises and deliver in full and on time. The role is accountable for optimising EBIT through effective and efficient planning both in advance and on the day of delivery.
The role is also responsible for delivering effective and efficient Distribution and minimising customer queries and complaints; and guiding the Distribution Coordinators to enable effective and optimal plan delivery, coaching them to provide customers with an excellent experience from the moment they place an order to the delivery of the product and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
* Build and maintain a forward view of haulage and production capacity and work with the Transport Manager to enhance capacity, if required, to deliver forecast order volumes
* Work collaboratively with the Operations Team, Transport Team and Commercial Team to optimise distribution plans on the day(s) prior to delivery
* Act as the point of contact for Operations and Transport to communicate production disruptions as a result of plant breakdown, driver absence etc., sharing with the Commercial Team to enable them to proactively manage customer expectations
* In response to changes to the plan (caused by customer circumstance, production availability etc), look across the area/region to identify opportunities to minimise impact on customer
* Facilitate and guide Distribution Coordinators to respond to changes in the plan caused by customer circumstance, production availability etc, minimising impact across the area
* Guide Distribution Coordinators to contact customers regarding changes to expected delivery times
* Analyse declined orders to understand opportunities to enhance capacity to produce/deliver product
* Analyse lost volumes (cancelled or reduced orders) and share repeat occurrences of customer cancellations/reduced orders with Commercial Team
* Upskill Distribution Coordinators in Breedon’s Customer & Commercial processes and systems to maintain performance standards, data integrity and enable data driven decision making/ continuous improvement
* Proactively review performance KPIs (e.g. Plan adherence) to drive performance in customer experience and distribution efficiency
* Implement and embed changes to ways of working in line with Customer & Commercial Excellence initiatives.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Highly effective communicator and facilitator, able to collaborate across teams and levels
* A self-starter who is commercially focused and responds appropriately on your own to improve outcomes and process’s and assumes responsibility for your own performance
* Strong organisational and multitasking skills
* Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) Word and experience with CRM software
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to generate insights from data
* Strong verbal and written communication
* Attention to detail and a right first time attitude
* Effective conflict resolution and is adaptable and resilient.
