Clerical Officer - Emergency Department

Permanent | Full-time (37.5 hours) & Part-time (22.5) | 24hr service - includes days, nights and bank holidays

We're looking for someone to join our reception and clerical team, helping ensure the smooth running of our busy Emergency Department. You will provide a professional and compassionate service, supporting patients, families, and medical staff in critical moments. The role requires a caring attitude, quick thinking, and a desire to help.
About You
* GCSE level education or equivalent experience
* Previous experience in a public‑facing role with general office responsibilities
* Enthusiastic and compassionate, able to stay calm and professional in challenging situations
* A team player with a desire to contribute to the care and support of others

Main duties of the job
* Provide a welcoming reception service for patients, ambulance staff and visitors.
* Support “resus” situations by taking essential patient details.
* Register patients and ensure accurate data entry in the Careflow PAS system.
* Direct patients to appropriate areas and answer questions with excellent customer service.
* Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold professionalism in challenging situations.
* Schedule follow‑up appointments.

Qualifications and Training
* GCSE Maths and English

* Experience of general office duties
* Previous experience dealing with the general public in a workplace setting
* Previous experience of clerical work in an Emergency Department or a healthcare environment
