Children’s Editor – illustrated publishingPost Wave Publishing is a leading Chinese publisher of adult and children’s titles, both originated and translated. We have recently established a UK subsidiary to originate and publish children’s books in the English Language. We are seeking a children’s book editor to support our new editorial team, based in our London office. The successful candidate will act as editorial lead on designated children’s illustrated books, and provide editorial support to others, helping to ensure that all titles are accurate, consistent, and delivered on schedule.Role/responsibilities:Acting as editorial lead on designated titles as the list requires, working closely with design at all stagesWorking as part of the creative editorial/design team, having regular and ongoing input into creative processReading and reporting on new proposals and researching competitionProviding author, illustrator, and agent care of the highest standard and liaising with freelancersDeveloping and managing schedules for all books to effectively progress titles through the creative and production stagesEnsuring that schedules and budgets are met, communicating changes as necessaryDelivering edited manuscripts, including comments on roughs and finished layoutsProviding effective and timely advance material for Sales teams (UK and International)Setting up and maintaining titles on databases, running title costings and liaising with productionA desire to contribute to the future list Skills required:Excellent project management and organisational skillsExcellent proofreading skills and an eye for detailGood understanding of the design and illustration processAbility to work with Word and Excel, Indesign and PhotoshopHighly organised and efficientAble to work as part of a teamAble to quickly build effective and positive working relationshipsA clear and effective communicator, in writing and verballyThis role reports to the Publisher and will be based at our central London offices, hybrid working of three days in the office.
