Learning Support Assistant – Primary

GSL Education are seeking a friendly, flexible, and motivated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a vibrant primary school in Portsmouth on a part-time basis. The Role:
As a part-time LSA, you’ll play a vital role in supporting children’s learning, working alongside class teachers to provide targeted help both in and out of the classroom.
Your responsibilities will include:
Classroom Support: Assisting the teacher during lessons by helping pupils stay on task and understand key concepts.
Small Group & 1:1 Support: Working with individuals or small groups of pupils who may need extra help with their learning.
Promoting Independence: Encouraging pupils to develop confidence and take ownership of their learning.
Teamwork: Communicating effectively with teachers and other staff to ensure pupils’ needs are met consistently.
Learning Environment: Helping to create a calm, inclusive and encouraging classroom atmosphere.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience working with children in a school, nursery, or similar setting.
A positive, patient, and adaptable attitude.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and wellbeing.
A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) is beneficial but not essential.
