Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a career-minded person to join our Mill Green (Hatfield) team as an Electrical and Mechanical Technician. Focused mainly on electrical maintenance, you will perform a range of assigned front-line maintenance/operational activities on our sewage pumping stations in the Hertfordshire area. You will work in multi-disciplinary teams responsible for carrying out scheduled, unscheduled and emergency maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact, actively helping to reduce pollution from our sites and networks.
What you’ll be doing as an Electrical and Mechanical Technician
* Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and performing repairs during incidents.
* Install, modify, and commission new plant equipment and diagnose and repair faults in systems and plants.
* Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
* Examples of equipment you will work on include motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
* Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.
Base Location - Mill Green (Hatfield), AL9 5PE
38 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Plus, you will be included in a 1 week in every 6 weeks out-of-hours emergency standby rota, for which you receive additional payments.
You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or with NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.

* Ability to work with minimum supervision, under own initiative, to design and meet standards.
* Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
* Team player who can work in many different teams, showing respect for others, providing helpful feedback and supporting the development of others.
* IT literate.
* Full UK driving licence.

* Offering base salary up to £45,000 per annum, plus standby & overtime opportunity, increasing earning by a potential £8,000 - £10,000.
