Deputy SENDCo / Deputy Head of ALF (Access to Learning Faculty)
Salary: TMPS/UPS with TLR 2a
Start Date: January 2026
Are you passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Oakwood School is offering an exciting opportunity for an existing or aspiring professional to join our inclusive community as a Deputy SENDCo from January 2026. The role:
As Deputy SENDCo, you will work collaboratively with our SENDCo and another Deputy SENDCo to ensure the delivery of our Special Educational Needs provision is both effective and compassionate. This position could be an introduction to SEND leadership, making it ideal for individuals seeking to expand their experience in this vital area of education, or it could be an opportunity for a new challenge within your existing Career in Special Educational Needs.
Key responsibilities:
1. Support the SENDCos in developing and implementing the school's SEND strategy.
2. Assist with the coordination of support for pupils with SEND.
3. Contribute to the assessment and monitoring of pupil progress.
4. Liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create tailored support plans.
5. Help to foster a supportive environment that enables all students to achieve their potential.
6. Possibility of working closely with the designated teacher for LAC.
About you:
7. A strong commitment to inclusive education and the well-being of students with SEND.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
9. A proactive approach to problem-solving and working as part of a team.
10. Relevant experience in education, with a desire to specialise in SEND.
11. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential.
