Consultant Paediatrician with interest in Cardiology – Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. Ref: EG217773
NHS Grampian invites enthusiastic applicants for a Consultant in General Paediatrics with expertise in Cardiology, based within Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (RACH). The successful applicant will contribute to the Consultant out-of-hours rota for Medical Paediatrics in addition to being Consultant of the week on pro rota basis. This is a permanent, 40 hour per week post (part time and job share will be considered).
Facilities and context
The Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital has a total of 87 beds, providing specialist inpatient and outpatient care in Medical Paediatrics and its sub-specialities, General Paediatric Surgery, Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery, ENT, Dermatology, Orthodontics, Ophthalmology, Clinical Genetics and Child and Family Psychiatry. The Department of Community Child Health and a purpose built Child Protection suite are located within the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. RACH has its own Accident and Emergency Department under direct Consultant supervision. There are approximately 8000 attendances annually of which two thirds are acute admissions.

Qualifications and registration
* Trained in the UK with evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
* Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).
* Those trained and experienced doctors who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made. While in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made.
